Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration program that allows foreign workers with Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residency (PR). Managed under the Express Entry system, CEC offers a fast-track pathway for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada.

 

1. Overview of the Canadian Experience Class

CEC is designed for foreign workers and international students who have work experience in Canada and wish to become permanent residents.

Ideal candidates for CEC:

Foreign workers who have been employed in Canada with valid work permits.

International graduates who have completed their studies and gained work experience in Canada.

Applicants with high CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) scores in Express Entry.

 

2. Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for CEC, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Work Experience

Minimum 1 year (1,560 hours) of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada.

Work experience must be in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 categories.

Experience must have been gained within the last 3 years.

Self-employment and work experience gained while studying are not eligible.

Language Proficiency

CLB 7 for NOC TEER 0, 1 occupations.

CLB 5 for NOC TEER 2, 3 occupations.

IELTS or CELPIP test results are required.

Settlement Funds

Not required if the applicant is already working in Canada.

Residency Requirement

Applicants must have work experience in Canada and intend to reside in Canada permanently.

 

3. Application Process

Create an Express Entry Profile

Submit Language Test Results

Provide Proof of Work Experience

Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Submit PR Application Within 60 Days

Application Processing and Approval

 

4. Required Documents

Passport and ID

Language test results (IELTS or CELPIP)

Proof of work experience (employment letter, pay stubs, etc.)

Police clearance certificate

Medical exam results

 

5. Processing Time

Average 6 months via Express Entry.
